Christopher Nolan’s third Batman movie has been probable the most expected film of the last years, at least, it has been for me. And I have to confess, Mr. Nolan has created another big great awesome roller-coster

La tercera película de Batman de Christopher Nolan ha sido probablemente la película más esperada de los últimos años; al menos, lo ha sido para mi. Y tengo que confesar, el señor Notan ha vuelto a crear una gran-genial-increíble montaña rusa.

Bane' strength, velocity and ferocity overpases Batman's expectations

This movie takes place eight years after the events of “The Dark Knight”. If you have forgotten how this one ended: Harvey Dent, whose initial objective was to take down all the Mafia in Gotham City, loses control of himself once the Joker kills his love interest, Rachel. The Joker gets to Rachel thanks to Gotham Police Department, as corrupted as the rest of the city is. Harvey Dent, furious, search and kills the cops he once sweared to protect. By transforming the great Harvey Dent into this crazy killer, the Jokers shows that even the greatest man can be corrupted. But Batman and Commisioner Gordon won’t accept that, so Batman assummes the deaths Havey has caused and becomes a fugitive, so that Harvey Dent can still be the bright symbol he once was and stood for.

Esta película arranca 8 años después de los eventos de “El Caballero Oscuro”. Si has olvidado cómo terminaba ésta: Haver Dent, cuyo objetivo inicial era derrocar toda la Mafia que había en Gotham, pierde el control de sí mismo cuando el Joker mata a su amada, Rachel. El Joker consigue llegar hasta ella gracias al Departamento de Policía, tan corrupto como la propia ciudad. Harvey Dent, furioso, busca y mata a los policías que una vez juró proteger. Mediante esta transformación del gran Harvey Dent en un asesino loco, el Joker demuestra que hasta los hombres más grandes pueden ser corrompidos. Pero Batman y el Inspector Gordon no lo aceptarán, y Batman asume las muertes de Harvey y se convierte en un fugitivo, para que Harvey Dent pueda seguir siendo el brillante símbolo que una vez fue y por el que peleo.

That’s bassically what you’ll have to remember. The Joker is not mentioned in the movie, though Harvey Dent is. The important characters of the saga (Bruce Wayne, Commissioner Gordon and Alfred) seem to not have move on in the last 8 years. Bruce has abandoned the cape and cowl, whereas Gordon has to praise Harvey Dent though he knows who he had become It takes them a greater challenge, Bane, to realise it’s time for Gotham’s heroes to come back.

Eso es, básicamente, lo que deberíais recordar para ver la película. EL Joker no es mencionado en ningún momento, aunque Havey Dent sí. Los personajes importantes de la saga (Bruce Wayne, el inspector Gordon y Alfred) parecen no haber “avanzado” en los últimos 8 años. Bruce ha abandonado la cape y la máscara, mientras que Gordon tiene que alabar a Havey Dent, aunque realmente sabe en qué se convirtió. Necesitarán una mayor amenaza, Bane, para darse cuenta de que es hora de que regresen los héroes de Gotham.

Who is John Blake?

New characters are also introduced. We have Selina Kyle a.k.a. Catwoman (Anne Hathaway), Bane (Tom Hardy), John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) or Miranda Tate (Marion Cotillard). The only complaint I might have is that I would have liked to know more about Selina’s past. How se become catwoman and what forced her to be what she is nowadays. The rest of the new characters are correctly explained in my opinion, and you get to know them pretty good, though maybe not from the very beginning, but through the whole movie. Indeed, there are certain aspects you don’t get to know about them until the very end. Special mention, Bane. Great villain for the last installment of such great trilogy. He becomes Batman's greatest challenge, as the overpases him in many aspects

También se introducen nuevos personajes. Tenemos a Selina Kyle alias Catwoman (Anne Hathaway); Bane (Tom Hardy), John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) o Miranda Tate (Marion Cotillard). La única queja que podría tener es que me habría gustado conocer un poco más el pasado de Selina. Cómo se convirtió en catwoman o qué es lo que la forzó a convertirse en lo que hoy es. El resto de los nuevos personajes son correctamente introducidos en mi opinión, y llegas a conocerles bastante bien, aunque quizás no desde el mismo principio, sino a lo largo de la película. De hecho, hay muchos aspectos que no llegas a saber hasta el final. Mención especial, Bane. Gran villano para la última pieza de tan buena trilogía. Se convierte en el mayor desafío de Batman, ya que le supera en muchos aspectos

Catwoman is one of the new characters

Christian Bale’s performance gets eclipsed by those of the rest f the cast. I was very pleasently surprised by all of them. I watched the movie in English, and was a bit worried about Bane’s mask. However, all of my worries vanished from the beginning. Bane’s voice is easily understandable and even with the mask, Tom Hardy gives an outstanding performance. Again, my complain, if there had to be one, will be Catwoman. It’s not that she doesn’t do it good. Anne Hathaway plays Selina Kyle amazingly, and he can change the look in her eyes with such ease… she can look innocent in one scene and badass one second later. One of the greatest surprised of the movie. My complaint about her would be that, physically, I don’t see her as catwoman. But that’s just something personal, of course.

La interpretación de Christian Bale queda eclipsada por la del resto del casting. Estuve gratamente sorprendido por todos ellos. Vi la película en inglés, y estaba un poco preocupado por la máscara de Bane. Sin embargo, todas mis preocupaciones se esfumaron desde el principio. La voz de Bane es fácilmente reconocible y, aún con la máscara, Tom Hardy, ofrece una interpretación espectacular. De nuevo, mi queja, si es que tuviera que haber alguna, sería Catwoman. No es que no lo haga bien. Anne Hathaway interpreta a Selina Kyle de manera increíble, y puede cambiar la mirada de sus ojos con tanta facilidad…puede parecer inocente en una escena y malvada y confiada un segundo después. Una de las grandes sorpresas de la película. Mi queja sobre ella sería que, físicamente, yo no la veo como Catwoman. Pero eso es algo personal, claro.

One good point about the plot is that it’s “circular”. Certain aspects of both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight play a role here. It’s important that you have seen both of them before watching this movie, you may get lost if not. Apart from that, I won’t give anything away. It’s a complex plot, not the kind of “bad guy against good guy”. It’s possibly the most emotive of them all. All the actors and their characters are pushed to their extremes, to show how they really are. That’s all I will say. Christopher Nolan closes his beloved trilogy with great twists at the end (in the brief last 5 minutes) that will make you applause when the credits roll down.

Un punto positivo de la trama es que es “circular”. Ciertos aspectos, tanto de Batman Begins como de El Caballero Oscuro juegan un papel aquí. Es importante que hayas visto ambas películas antes de ver esta, puedes perderte si no. Aparte de eso, no diré nada más que revele nada. Es una trama compleja, no del timo “tipo malo contra tipo bueno”. Es posiblemente la más emotiva de las tres. Todos los actores y sus personajes son empujados hasta sus límites para mostrarse como realmente son. Eso es todo lo que diré. Christopher Notan cierra su querida trilogía con unos grandes giros argumentales al final (los últimos breves 5 minutos) que te harán aplaudir cuando caigan los créditos.

Is it better than “The Dark Knight”? Tough question…I won’t dare to say so, though I’ll say they might stand as equals, though Heath Ledger’s Joker was outstanding. I didn’t like The Dark Knight the first time as much as I did the second, and certainly not as much as I did the third time…probably, the same will happen with this one.

¿Es mejor que “El Caballero Oscuro”? Pregunta dura… No me atrevo a decir que sí, aunque sí diré que puede que se mantengan como iguales, aunque le Joker de Heath Ledger era espectacular. No me gustó El Caballero Oscuro la primera vez tanto como lo hizo la segunda, y desde luego no tanto como lo hizo la tercera vez…probablemente, aquí ocurra lo mismo.

By the way: The movie includes, at the beginning, the "Man of Steel" teaser trailer, the new Superman movie, directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) and produced and written by Christopher Nolan. It's just a teaser, not much, though it got me excited!
