A lo largo de la vida nos cruzamos
con infinidad de personas, y de la mayoría se ellas al final sólo recordamos lo
más básico y banal. Sin embargo, hay unas pocas que, por una razón u otra, te
marcan y de las que te acuerdas con una nitidez mucho mayor: porque te ayudaron
cuando lo necesitabas, por un gesto característico, por su sonrisa, por su
mirada, porque te hicieron la vida imposible en alguna ocasión o porque te
ayudaron a crecer en un momento concreto de tu vida, etc. Puede ser por mil
razones, sin que ninguna sea mejor que otra para justificar el porqué. Pero te
marcan, y no lo olvidas nunca.
Hay veces que a la persona la has
visto tan sólo unos segundos, o la conoces sólo durante un día y luego no la
vuelves a ver más. Puede ser que el recuerdo sea un gesto o tic característico,
aunque en la mayoría de ocasiones lo que recuerdas básicamente es la cara y su expresión:
su mirada de tristeza y melancolía, la sonrisa amiga que te aporta confianza,
los ojos brillantes indicativos de una conexión especial, la cara de
sufrimiento ante la adversidad,… en esos momentos te invade la misma sensación
que te marcó hace tiempo y que provocó el recuerdo.
En otras ocasiones, es una persona
mayor que tú la que te marca y es debido a que te enseña y te hace crecer o te orienta en una
dirección durante unos meses o años. No me refiero sólo a los padres sino también
a abuelos, hermanos, profesores, entrenadores, etc. Todos ellos han aportado en
algún momento un rasgo concreto que has adoptado porque lo considerabas útil o
que has desechado porque entendiste que ese no era el camino que entendías
adecuado.
Por otra parte, están las personas
con las que has convivido mucho tiempo por realizar una actividad común y que
también te han marcado: compañeros de clase, de equipo, de actividad, de viaje,
etc. En estos grupos siempre hay gente con la que tienes más trato y otros con
los que menos, pero con casi todos hay anécdotas y hechos que de vez en cuando
vuelven a la memoria, más aún si los rememoras con esa persona cuando la ves o
debido a que es un buen amigo.
Finalmente, hay un grupo reducido
de personas que te marcan aún más y es porque tienen un plus. Con esto me
refiero a que cuando estás con ellas sientes que te aportan un poco más, te
hacen sentir mejor o te aportan mayor seguridad y confianza. No suelen ser
muchos los que tienen este don (o los que lo muestran) y es un privilegio conocer
a estas personas. Ojala todos tengáis la suerte de conocer gente así, ya que
hacen que tu vida sea mucho más alegre, divertida, despreocupada y sencilla.
Este es mi deseo para todos
vosotros en este nuevo año que empieza, que conozcáis gente con este don, con
ese plus personal. No los olvidaréis nunca…

6-Fight Club-El Club de la Lucha (Chuck Palahniuk, 1996)
This book’s film is very famous (and VERY
good), starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. And the book, I can say, was also
REALLY good. This is by far the best book I’ve read from Chuck Palahniuk. I
remember staying awake in bed, with a light and the book until 1 am in bed
“reading before sleep”. It is quite different from everything I’ve ever read.
It was almost like reading a philosophy book: you might think otherwise or not,
like the ideas exposed or not, but there was no denying Chuck Palahniuk was
setting his way of thinking, more or less.
It is true this book might be disgusting sometimes,and not everybody will be able to read it. I
managed myself to get to the end and I enjoyed it a lot.
By the way, the ending is different than the
one in David Fincher’s film! Chuck Palahniuk confessed he liked better the one
in the film...And for me, this is one of my favourite movies.

La película de este libro es bastante famosa (y MUY buena), protagonizada por Brad Pitt y Edward Norton. Y el libro, puedo asegurar, también es MUY bueno. Es el mejor libro que he leído de este autor. Recuerdo quedarme despierto en la cama, con una luz y el libro hasta la una de la madrugada "leyendo antes de dormir". Es bastante diferente de cualquier otra cosa que haya leído. Era casi como leer un libro de filosofía: puedes pensar de otra manera o no, que te gusten las ideas que se exponen o no, pero no se puede negar que Chuck Palahniuk estaba expresando su manera de pensar, más o menos.
Es cierto que el libro puede resultar desagradable a veces y que no todo el mundo podrá leerlo. Me las apañé para llegar hasta el final y lo disfruté un montón.
Por cierto, que el final de la película de David Fincher es distinto. Chuck Palahniuk ha confesado que prefiere el final de la peli...y por mi parte, es una de mis películas favoritas
7-Watchmen (Alan Moore, September 1986-October
1987)
This is not technically, a book. The more purists, will say “graphic novel”, the ones that
don’t care will just say “comic”. I don’t mind how you call them. I’ve read
comics all my life, specially since I started drawing. I tried to copy
these artists techniques. However, wether you rather say comic or graphic
novel, the truth is that Watchmen has a story and characters more complex and
ellaborated than many books. So please, avoid prejudices and don’t judge
“Watchmen” for being a “graphic novel/comic”, as it has a lot inside of it. And
it is quite long! Even though it’s a comic, the story goes for hundreds of
pages, and I’m not exagerating. You’ll have fun for a while.

Plus, the movie rocks, and is a very good
adaptation. Some hardcore fans complainted because the ending was changed.
Well, the “meaning” of the ending (the actual important thing) is not change at
all, but it is driven in a different way. In my opinion actually, a better way
than in the comic, I think it works out smooth and nice! Este no es, técnicamente, un libro. Los más puristas dirán "novela gráfica", aquellos a los que les dé igual dirán "cómic". No me importa cómo lo llames. He leído cómics toda mi vida, especialmente cuando empecé a dibujar. Intentaba copiar la técnica de estos artistas. De cualquier manera, tanto si prefieres decir cómic como novela gráfica, lo cierto es que Watchmen tiene mejor historia y personajes más complejos y elaborados que muchos libros. Así que por favor, evita prejuicios, no juzgues "Watchmen" por ser una "novela gráfica/cómic", ya tiene mucho que mostrar. ¡Y es bastante larga! Aunque sea un cómic, la historia continúa durante cientos de páginas, y no estoy exagerando. ¡Tendrás diversión para rato! Además, la película es genial, y una muy buena adaptación. Los hardcore fans protestaron porque el final fue cambiado. Bueno, yo creo que el "significado" del final (lo que realmente es importante) no cambió para nada, pero es llevado de otra manera. En mi opinión de hecho, mejor que en el cómic, pienso que funciona perfectamente
8- the Death Gate Cycle - El Ciclo de la Puerta de la Muerte (7 books) (Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman,
1990-1994)
This is my next reading project: to re-read
this saga. I was probably too young to completely understand them by the day I
read these books (I was 12-13), and I’m probably too grown up now to re-read
them but I don’t mind. These books are complex, or so I remember them to be,
and it take the seven of them to completely tell the story. We follow different
characters along different worlds, connected through gates and there is one
gate that connects them all “The Death Gate”
These are the seven books
Each book might be from 300 to 400 pages more
or less, so that makes a total within 2100 and 2800. I don’t know you but if I
like a story, the longer the better. And that’s what happened with this saga
I’ve read many other books from these authors.
They tend to work together and created this “Dragonlance” universe. I used to
like it a lot back in my teens, though I quit reading those. However, this saga
has nothing to do with this universe. I don’t know if these books are still in
bookshops, but if so, you might want to consider reading them Este es mi próximo proyecto de lectura: re-leerme esta saga. Probablemente era demasiado joven para entenderla completamente cuando la leía (12-13 años) y probablemente sea demasiado mayor ahora como para volver a re-leerla, pero no me importa. Estos libros eran complejos, o así los recuerdo, y hacían falta los siete para contar de manera completa la historia. Sigue a distintos personajes a lo largo de diferentes mundos, conectados a travé sde Puertas y hay una de ellas que las conecta todas, "La Puerta de la Muerte". Cada libro debe tener entre 300 y 400 páginas más o menos, así que hacen un total de 2100-2800. No sé tú, pero si a mí me gusta una historia, cuanto más larga mejor. Y eso es lo que ocurre con esta saga. He leído varios otros libros de estos autores. Tienden a trabajar juntos y crearon el universo Dragonlance. Me solía gustar bastante cuando era adolescente, aunque dejé de leerlos. Sin embargo, esta saga no tiene nada que ver con ese universo. No sé si estos libros están aún en las librerías, pero si es así, igual quieres considerarlos.
9-Harry Potter (J. K. Rowling, 1997-2007)
Before I start, I must confess I only make it
to the fourth book. It take too long between one and another to come out and I
slowly lose interest. Anyway, the first Harry Potter book was a present for my
older brother on Christmas of 1997 or 1998, I can’t quite tell. He couldn’t
stop talking about it so, once he finished it, I took it. And for a while, I
couldn’t stop talking about it so, once I finished it, my mother took it. At
the time, everybody was reading these books in school so we all had this kind
of Harry Potter fever.
I grew up reading Harry Potter, even if I
eventually quit, and I have a nice memories about those books. Of course, now
that it has become so popular with the movies an so, pretty much everybody has
“nice memories about those books”… Antes de comenzar, debo reconocer que sólo llegué hasta el cuarto libro. Pasaba demasiado tiempo entre que salía un libro y el siguiente y poco a poco perdí el interés. De cualquier maner, volviendo al tema, el primero libro de Harry Potter fue un regalo para mi hermano mayor (creo) en las navidades de 1997 o 1998, no recuerdo bien. No podía dejar de hablar de él, así que una vez que lo temrinó, yo lo empecé. Y durante un tiempo yo no pude dejar de hablar de él, así que cuando yo lo terminé, mi madre lo empezó. Para aquel entonces, todo el mundo en el colegio estaba leyendo los libros, así que todos pasamos por esta especie de fiebre de Harry Potter. Crecí leyendo Harry Potter. Incluso aunque eventualmente dejé de leerlo, seguía teniendo un buen recuerdo de los libros. Por supuesto, ahora que se ha convertido en un fenómeno de masas con las películas y así, prácticamente todo el mundo tiene un "buen recuerdo de los libros"...
10- the Name of the Wind – El Nombre del Viento (Patrick
Rothfuss, 2007)
I bought this book in summer. It was suposedly
going to be a present for my brother’s birthday. You see, my aunt ask me what
book should she buy for my brother. So I first ask a friend of me, through
e-mail, about this book (exact name and author, because I couldn’t recall), but
he didn’t answer on time. I remembered my brother had read the first two books
of Geralt de Rivia’s saga so we bought him the next installment. Then, when the
present was ready, my friend answered me and then I decided to buy it for
myself, because I was about to finish the book I was reading in that moment.
And well, though the 50 pages were a bit slow, the rest of the book immediately
got me hooked. I remember I was in my exams period and I stayed up in bed late
reading… and when we finished the last of those exams and my friends and I went
to the swimming pool, I took it with me. It is a large book, almost 900 pages,
and the second one is even larger (1200), with a third one in the works.
Compré este libro en verano. En principio iba a ser un regalo para el cumpleaños de mi hermano. Para entonces mi tía me preguntó que qué libro podría comprarle a mi hermano. Así que primero pregunté a un amigo mío, a través de e-mail, acerca de este libro (título exacto y autor, porque no lo recordaba), pero no respondió a tiempo. Recordé que mi hermano había leído los dos primeros libros de la saga de Geralt de Rivia, así que le compramos el siguiente de la serie. Entonces, cuando el regalo ya estaba preparado, mi amigo me contestó, y decidí comprarlo para mi, porque estaba a punto de acabar el libro que estaba leyendo entonces. Y vaya, aunque las primeras 50 páginas eran un poco lentas, el resto del libro enseguida me enganchó. Recuerdo que estaba en mi periodo de exámenes y me quedaba por la noche leyendo en la cama hasta tarde... y cuando terminamos el último de esos exámenes, y mis amigos y yo fuimos a la piscina, también lo llevçe conmigo. Es un libro grande, casi 900 páginas, y la segunda parte es todavía más larga (1200), con una tercera entrega en camino.
Kvothe
The books tells the story of Kvothe, a bar
tender in a fantasy world that tells his own story. Nobody could ever imagine
who he really is. There are two “time lines” here, the past, which occupies 90%
of the book, and the present, some random chapters within the others. What I
find more curious, is that, even if you know how the character if going to “end”
(as a bar tender) you keep on reading just to know how he gets there… I thought
it was a very nice beginning for the author, Patrick Rothfuss, and I’m anxious
to read the third one…so many things yet to happen.
El libro cuenta la historia de Kvothe, un posadero en un mundo de fantasía que cuenta su propia historia. Nadie puede imaginar quién es realmente. Hay dos "líneas temporales", la del pasado, que supone el 90% del libro, y el presente, algunos capítulos sueltos intercalados con los otros. Lo que encuentro más curioso es que, aunque sepas cómo va a acabar el personaje (como en posadero) sigues leyendo simplemente sólo para saber cómo llega a eso... Creo que fue un buen comiendo para su autor, Patrick Rothfuss, y espero ansioso leer el tercero...aún quedan tantas cosas por ocurrir.

I saw it in
English, but neither in 3D nor HFR, however, I hopefully would do so next week,
and I’d probably update this post with my thoughts about it. La vi en Inglés, pero ni en 3d ni HFR (48 fotogramas por segundo, mientras que las películas normales funcionan a 24), sin embargo, con un poco de suerte lo haga la semana que viene, así que actualizaré este post con mi opinión al respecto

1-PLOT - ARGUMENTO
I’ve you have read the book you already know if
not: The dwarves had they home taken by the evil Dragon Smaug, who wanted all
the gold and precious gemstones they had in their Kingdom, Erebor, inside the
Lonely Mountain. After many years, the dwarves are determined to reclaim their
homeland, but only 12 of them answer when their king,Thorin Oakenshield, calls upon them. All of
this “backstory” is told by the original Bilbo (Ian Holm), from the original
trilogy, while he is writing his book, “The Hobbit”, for Frodo. It is shown
through epic flashbacks. I must say, Erebor looks amazing. We had only seen
previously Moria. That was our only contact with the kingdom of the Dwarves.
Here, Erebor is featured only 10 minutes or so, but it is worth.
Meet the 13 dwarves
Si ya has leído el libro, ya lo sabes, y si no: El hogar de los enanos les fue arrebatado por el malvado dragón Smaug, que quería todo el oro y preciosas gemas que tenían en su reino, Erebor, en el interior de la Montaña Solitaria. Después de muchos años, los enanos están determinados a recuperar su tierra, pero solo 12 responden cuando su rey, Thorin Escudo de Roble, los llama. Todo este "trasfondo" es contado por el Bilbo original (Ian Holm), de la trilogía original, mientras escribe su libro, "El Hobbit", para Frodo. Es mostrado a través de épicos flashbacks. Y debo confesar que Erebor es espectacular. Sólo habíamos visto Moria. Ese era nuestro único contacto con los reinos enanos. Aquí, Erebor solo aparece 10 minutos o así, pero merece la pena.
Anyway, the movie features every single detail
in the book and it adds some more. Some of these are from Tolkien’s notes, such
as the white council, others are invented by P. Jackson. However, this details
do not distract us from the dwarves quest, in fact, they help us to have a deep
perspective of them, specially their leader, Thorin. De cualquier manera, la película enseña cada uno de los detalles del libro, e incluso más. Algunos de estos últimos aparecen en notas de Tolkien, como el concilio blanco, y otras son inventadas por P. Jackson. De cualquier manera, no nos distraen de la tarea de los enanos, de hecho, nos ayudan a tener una perspectiva más profunda de ellos, especialmente de su líder, Thorin.
I’ve read some critics that say the movie feels
“streched” and “slow”, like if Peter Jackson, in his desire to make three
movies instead of two, had made everything too slow to have “enough book” for
the three films. Well, I’m sorry, but I don’t know what movie have they seen,
but certainly not the one that I have! I didn’t had that feeling, at all!
Furthermore, at some times, I wished to movie was little slower, as sometimes I
felt stressed. But for sure, If you had made this 2 hour 45 minutes into, for
example, 2 hours, it would have been a complete chaos. There is no way the
story told in this movie could have fitted into a shorter movie. He leído algunas críticas que dicen que la película parece "estirada" y "lenta" como si Peter Jackson, en su deseo de hacer 3 en vez de dos pelícuas, hubiera hecho todo demasiado "despacio" para tener "suficiente libro" para las tres películas. Bueno, lo siento, pero no sé qué película han visto, pero desde luego no la misma que yo. ¡No tuve esa sensación para nada! De hecho, en algunos momentos deseaba que la película hubiera sido más lenta, ya que en algunos momentos era estresante. Pero desde luego, si hubieran intentado hacer esta película de 2h 45 minutos en, por ejemplo, una de 2 horas, habría sido un completo caos. No hay manera de que esta historia pudiera haber sido contada en una película más corta.
2-ACTORS - ACTORES
Martin Freeman is huge. Really. At the
beginning of the film, he plays this little dumb version of Bilbo. However,
through the movie, as they encounter different threats, he changes. And it’s a
change you can actually feel. The most intense of these, for me is when
(SPOILER) he forgives Gollum’s life (END OF SPOILER). Sir Ian Mackellen’s
Gandalf is great as well, specially because is Gandalf the Grey, instead of the
White, and he ‘s way more funny. I was surprised by Richard Armitage. His
take of Thorin is exactly what you would read on the book. Someone arrogant,
powerful, stubborn… The other 12 dwarves are good as well. I must confess, some
of them don’t even speak along the movie (I’m sure they will in the rest of the
movies), but that’s comprehensible, having 13 dwarves as main characters.
However, they have many scenes “together” that make you get to know them as a
group, not individually. A group of dwarves you’ll love to have a beer with as
you laugh with them plenty of times in the movie. And last, but not least…Andy
Serkis. Well, you don’t need me to talk about him, do you?
Why don't we play a game of Riddles?
Martin Freeman es tremendo. De verdad. Al principio de la película hace una versión un poco tonta de Bilbo. Pero a lo largo de la película, conforme se van encontrando distintas amenazas, el cambia. Y es un cambio que llegas a sentir. El más intenso de estos cambios, para mí es cuando (SPOILER) le perdona la vida a Gollum (FIN DEL SPOILER). Sir Ian Mackellen como Gandalf es genial también, especialmente porque es Gandalf el Gris, y no el Blanco, y es mucho más divertido. Me sorprendí con Richard Armitage. Su interpretación de Thorin es exactamente como lo leerías en el libro. Alguien arrogante, poderoso, cabezota... Los otros 12 enanos también están bien. Debo confesar que algunos de ellos ni siquiera hablan en la película (aunque estoy seguro que lo harán a lo largo de las otras dos películas), pero eso es comprehensible teniendo 13 enanos como protagonistas. De cualquier modo, tienen muchas escenas "juntos" que te harán conocerles como grupo, no individualmente. Un grupo de enanos con los que te gustaría ir a tomar algo, ya que te reirás varias veces con ellos. Y por último, pero no menos importante...Andy Serkis. Bueno, no necesitáis que hable de él, ¿no?
3.BEST MOMENTS OF THE
MOVIE - LOS MEJORES MOMENTOS DE LA PELÍCULA
1.Flashbacks: The movie begins with a couple of flashbacks,
showing the Fall of Erebor and the Battle of Moria respectively. Well, as a
geek, both are awesome. I haven’t read the Silmarilion, but I know what’s in
there more or less, and these flashbacks show us a little bit how awesome it
could be if ever translated into the screen (though that’s pretty much
impossible because of the rights of the book belonging to someone who doesn’t
want it to be adapted). Also, specially the battle of Moria, looks a lot like a
huge Warhammer battle. Nevertheless, Weta Workshops repeats as the main studio
behind the special effects in Middle Earth. 1.Flashbacks : La película comienza con un par de ellos, mostrando la Caída de Erebor y la Batalla de Moria, respectivamente. Bueno, como fan, las dos son increíbles. No he leído el Silmarilion, pero sé más o menos lo que contien y estos flashbacks nos muestras un poco cómo podría ser si alguna vez se adaptase (lo que es bastante improbable porque los derechos pertenecen a alguien que no quiere que se adapte). Además, especialmente la batalla de Moria, parece una batalla gigante de Warhammer. No en vano, Weta Workshop repite como el principal estudio detrás de los efectos especiales de la Tierra Media
2.Trolls: People who have read the book will remember
this three trolls, Peter, Bert and William.
They are briefly shown in The Fellowship of the Ring, on the Extended Edition.
Their scene in The Hobbit here is gorgeus. Really cool stop motion technique. But also,
hilarious. As long as the movie was moving forward I was getting more and more
nervous..I wanted to see the trolls! Well they are great. The only thing I
didn’t like is that their names are never told, and I would have liked that,
but it’s a minor flaw 2.Trolls: Las personas que hayan leído el libro recordarán tres trolls, Pedro, Alberto y Guillermo. Son mostrados brevemente en La Comunidad del Anillo, en la Edición Extendida. Su escena en El Hobbit es tremenda. Una genial técnica de Stop Motion, pero también, muy divertida. Conforme la película avanzaba me iba poniendo más nervioso...¡Quería ver a los trolls! Bueno, estuvieron geniales. La única cosa que no me gustó es que sus nombres nunca se dicen, y me habría gustado, pero es un fallo menor
3.White Council: This supposed reunion of the most powerful
living entities in Middle Earth is said in the book to happenned, but it’s
never described what is said in there. Just that Gandalf leaves to have a
reunion. Well, Peter Jackson has put it in the movie, and it helps us
understand that something bigger than the dwarves quest is happening in Middle Earth.
Also, is your chance to see again Elrond, Galadriel and Saruman the White
(before he corrupts). Stellar cameos. This scene is slower than the rest before
and after, but is a good “slower”. It helps to recover your breath and prepare
for the second part of the movie. 3.El Concilio blanco: Esta reunión de los seres vivos más poderosos de la Tierra Media es mencionada en el libro, pero nunca se describe lo que pasó. 4.Game of Riddles: Finally, the return of Gollum! Bilbo and
Gollum play this face to face scene perfectly. Also, the stop motion technique
has improved so much that it’s a completely spectacle to see Gollum in motion.

As this post is supposed to be a review, I feel
like I have to say something “bad” about it. However, as I think I’ve already
made clear, my feelings were extremely positive towards the film, and I’m just
writing this part of the post because there were, of course, things that I
“didn’t like as much as the rest of the film”. It’s true that I loved the book
and I was hyped for this movie. So probably someone who’s not so much into
Tolkien’s universe may not like the film as much as I do (I know I’m not being
completely “rational” in this review) and find more flaws. Como este post se supone que es una "crítica" pienso que debería decir algo "malo" de la película. For example, this movie is filmed with 4k
resolution. That’s HUGE. And while in most parts is awesome to see the detail
of everything, in other moments, it wasn’t, at least for me. Elrond and
Galadriel looked “older”. Didn’t look like they were supposed to, elves,
powerful and immortals. In my opinion, they should have put more make up on
them, or do some CGI to make them look like that, elves. Por ejemplo, esta película esta grabada en resolución 4k. Eso es MUCHÍSIMO. Y mientras en muchas partes, ver el detalle de todo es increíble, en otros, no lo era, al menos para mí. Elrond y Galadriel parecen "mayores". The White Council
I’ve read critics that said that “monsters in
this film don’t look real, because they aren't only done by make up like they did in
LOTR but CGI and because of the 4K resolution”. Well, I disagree. Orcs
are enterely done by make-up. And they look great. Goblins are the ones done by
CGI, but they still look great. Of course you distinguished it’s CGI, but you
pretty much do so in every film with CGI. And having 4k just make them look
greater, and show how much work there is behind their creation. He le´´ido críticas que dicen que "los monstruos en esta película no parecen reales, porque no están hechos solamente con maquillaje, como en ESDLA sino CGI y por la resolución 4k". Pues siendo estar en desacuerdo. Los Orcos están enteramente hechos con maquillaje. Y lucen estupendamente. Los trasgos son los que están hechos con CGI, pero aún así también lucen estupendamente. Por supuesto que distingues que es CGI, pero eso lo haces en todas las películas con CGI. Y tener una reoslución 4k sólo hace que sean más espectacular y te ayudan a mostrar cuanto trabajo hay realmente detrás de su creación
The Goblin King.
A friend of me complaint about a specific scene:
the stone giants fighting. In the book they are mentioned but it’s not clear
whether it’s just a metaphore to describe the storm or there are actually stone
giants throwing stones. But in the books is just that, giants throwing stones,
whereas in the movie is an actual fight between them. Well, this friend of mine
said that scene was absurd, as the characters could have died hundreds of
times, and that it was featured in the film to put more action in it. Well. I
like it.
Un amigo mío se quejaba de una escena específica: la batalla entre gigantes de piedra. En el libro se les menciona pero no queda claro si es sólo una metáfora para describir una tormenta o realmente hay gigantes tirando piedras. Pero en el libro es sólo eso, gigantes tirando piedras, mientras que en la película es una auténtica batalla entre gigante. Este amigo mío decía que esa escena era absurda, ya que los personajes podrían haber muerto en numerosas ocasiones y que sólo aparecía en la película para meter más acción en ella. Pues vaya, a mí me gustó.
The rest of the things are just minor flaws,
like the name of the trolls, and similar El resto de las cosas eran fallos menores, como lo de los nombres de los trolles y similar.
5.MUSIC-MÚSICA
Well, as you can expect, Howard Shore’s music
delivers. You will listen to some known melodies from the previous trilogy, and
some new ones, of course. The music fits perfectly along the movie and there
are a couple of times the dwarves sing (in the book there are plenty more and
I’m sure some of these will be in the extended edition), but it’s the second
one that sounds more epic: Bueno, como podríais esperar, la música de Howard Shore da lo que promete. Escucharéis algunas melodías conocidas de la trilogía pasada, y algunas nuevas, por supuesto. 6.CLOSING COMMENTS-CONCLUSIONES
There are certains aspects I haven’t commented
that I think I should. As some of you know, this film was supposedly going to
be directed by Guillermo del Toro (but he departured because of the many
pre-production/budget issues). Well, you can still see his “print” in the
movie, specially with some creature's design, like Azog the Pale Orc, who seeks revenge against Thorin. He (Guillermo del Toro, no Azog) also appears in the
credits as writer.
Hay algunos aspectos que no he comentado y que creo que debería. Como algunos sabréis, la película supuestamente iba a ser dirigida por Guillermo del Toro (pero que abandonó por los muchos problemas de pre-producción/presupuesto, etc.). Bueno, aún podéis ver su "huella" en la película, especialmente con el diseño de algunas criaturas, como Azog, el Orco Pálido,que busca venganza contra Thorin. ÉL (Guillermo del Toro, no Azog) también aparece en los créditos finales como escritor
Overall, a lovely movie for those willing to
return to Middle Earth. Tolkien’s fans will be undoubtely delighted by the
film, for sure. There a lot of “things” attached to the previous trilogy that
Peter Jackson has put there for us fans to see (for example, Gandalf hitting
with his head the lamp on the ceiling in Bilbo’s house is similar to a scene in
the Fellowship of the Ring). Very epic, very action-packed, non-stop and, of
course, fun. One of the things different in this books from the Trilogy of the
Ring is the humour, and you can feel that in the movie. En conclusión, una película estupenda para aquellos que deseen volver a la Tierra Media. Los fans de Tolkien estarán encantados sin ninguna duda. Hay un montón de guiños que ligan con la trilogía pasada, y que Peter Jackson ha puesto ahí para que los fans los veamos (como por ejemplo Gandalf golpeandose con la lámpara del techo en la casa de Bilbo, que hay una escena similar en La Comunidad del Anillo). Muy épica, llena de acción, sin parar, y además, deivertida. Una de las cosas diferentes de éste libro respecto a la Trilogía del Anillo era el humor, y puedes notarlo en la película

So,
as I said, I watched the movie for a second time, and this time I went with the
full pack: 3D and HFR.
For
those of you who doesn't know what this means:

Regular
films are filmed with 24 fps. This means, there are 24 "photographs"
each second. That's what gives you the sense of movement. The thing is that
real life is more that 24 fps. I'm not sure how many "fps" can human
eye detect, but I'm pretty sure is above 60. So, in translation, regular film's
don't have their movement as fluent as it is in real life. Although we've seen
it for so long that we don't even notice anymore.

mixed. And I'm sorry to say it, but I did also have mixed feeling about it. I'll

Then
Bilbo stars telling the tale of Erebor. That's two minutes and a half or so
into the movie, and by then, I was already used to the 48 fps, or almost. Really,
it only took those two minutes to almost feel like I was into the movie. And by
the time that prologe ended, I was certainly "not aware" of the 48
fps.

After
this first contact, I started to like the 48 fps. It just looked more natural,
more real even if you are watching wizards, dwarves and hobbits. But the first
hour of the film doesn't really have scenes for you to truly appreciate the 48
fps. Yes, it has its two first flashbacks, but you might not be yet used to
HFR(High Frame Rate). Although I've said above it only took me 2 minutes and a
half or so and that, after Erebor's fall I was into the movie, I might not be
truly honest. It's true I didn't have any problem by the time the dwarves came
into Bilbo's and with all their reunion and the beginning of their quest. However,
when their talking about the Battle for Moria, and this second flashback came
into scene...I don't know, I really felt pushed out the movie. I don't know how
to explain.. I think it was the background (the battle takes places at the
doors of Moria supposedly, and the sun is setting in the background) that
suddenly looked too fake for me. The battle, as itself, was great, orcs against
Dwarves, and Azog looked frightening, but the whole atmosphere…it was obvious
it was done against a green wall and then the sunset added in post production.
Después de este primer contacto, me empezaron a gustar los 48 fps. Simplemente parecía más natural, más real, a pesar de que estás viendo magos, enanos y hobbits. Pero la primera hora de la película no tiene escenas que realmente te hagan apreciar los 48 fps. Sí, tiene dos flashbacks al principio, pero puede que aún no estés acostumbrado al HFR. Aunque arriba he dicho que sólo me costó dos minutos o así acostumbrarme y que después de la caída de Erebor ya estaba metido en la película, puede que no haya sido sincero del todo. Es cierto que no tuve ningún problema cuando los enanos llegaron a la casa de Bilbo, y con toda su reunión y el comienzo de su viaje. Sin embargo, cuando empezaron a hablar de la batalla de Moria y este segundo flashback entró en escena... No lo sé, me sentí empujado fuera de la película. No sé como explicarlo. Creo que era el fondo (la batalla tiene lugar en las puertas de Moria supuestamente, y el Sol se está poniendo en el fondo) que simplemente me parecía demasiado falso...Era obvio que lo habían hecho contra una pared verde y luego añadieron la puesta de sol en post producción.
Along
the movie there were scenes in which I definetly think the 48 fps worked great
and way better than 24 fps. Those scenes, I’ve noticed, were those with huge
amount of CGI details, like the three trolls, the Goblin King and Gollum, even
SPOILER Smaug’s eye and eye lip END OF SPOILER. Really, those scenes where a lot
of times better with 48 fps. I felt like I could almost touch the trolls.
Astonishing. Having these high quality stop motion technique with great CGI
work plus fluent-as-real-life-movement made me believe there are Trolls,
Goblins and all these creatures.

A lo largo de la película hay escenas en las que creo que realmente los 48 fps funcionan genial y mucho mejor que los 24 fps. Me he dado cuenta de que esas escenas coincidían con aquellas que tenían una enorme cantidad de detalles CGI, como los tres trolles, el rey Goblin y Gollum, incluso SPOILER El ojo y párpado de Smaug FIN DEL SPOILER. De verdad, esas escenas eran muchísimo mejor con los 48 fps. Sentía como que casi podía tocar a los trolles. Increíble. However,
along the movie as well were some shots in which I think the 48 fps didn’t
help. Most of it were as well CGI shots, but not as detailed as the previously
stated. Normally, actually, were those in which you had persecutions, such as
Radagast running away from the Wargs or the 13 Dwarves fleeing from the
goblins. Those scenes had something I didn’t like. They seemed rushed. I’ve
read in some critics that it looked like if it was a videogame. Well, that’s
exactly the feeling I got in those scenes. Probably, Peter Jackson’s director’s
style has a lot to do. If those persecutions were filmed differently maybe the
feeling would have been different. However, I couldn’t help but notice how “CGI-zed”
those moments were.

La mayoría de estos momentos eran también escenas CGI, pero no tan detalladas como las anteriores. always do with CGI, of course, but in here, is like, by stepping forward (HFR),
sometimes it feels like we’ve also stept backwards

Is
this the future of cinema? Well, probably. And by the time CGI improves even
more, it will all look great.
Does
the 3D work better with 48 fps? Definetly. The movement it’s always smooth and
it doesn’t get blurry
I
don’t usually like 3D, is it worth here? Yes. I never watched a movie in 3D
unless I have no choice. But the Hobbit is filmed straight in 3D (with the same
cameras James Cameron used in Avatar, the Red Epics), and not converted in
post-production, and I think you can tell the difference.
I
haven’t seen the film yet, and I don’t know how to see it, what do you
recommend? All the flaws I’ve said are, because, I went to the cinema JUST to
see the 48 fps. I had already seen the film and I wasn’t that much into it. If
you are a fan of Tolkien and Peter Jackson’s trilogy, go see it in 3D. You’ll
love to see some of your favorites characters look so real. If you just don’t mind, and just want to go to the cinema with girlfriend/boyfriend/family I’d
say to go see it in 2D. And then when you noticed you’ve loved the movie, go
and see it in 3D.

Y entonces, cuando te haya encantado la película, que la veas en 3D
To
close this section of my looooooong review I think Peter Jackson has really
made an effort to make something different in cinema. By this movie and it’s
advanced techniques he’s probably helping all the industry behind him to move
forward, and that’s something we should all appreciate. Even if the film had
been a failure, at least he has tried to be different. HFR is yet something new
and it still has a lot of development ahead, but it still works more than
perfectly for most of the movie.
Para cerar esta sección de mi laaaaaaaaarga crítica, creo que Peter Jackson ha hecho realmente un esfuerzo para hacer algo diferente en el cine. books I’ve read throughout my 22 years that I specially enjoyed. It’s not that
these books are masterpieces or not (some might be consider so, others might
not). It’s just that they meant something for me, and I want to share that with
you. You might have heard about some, read others, or have no completely idea
of what I’m talking about. Anyway, thanks for taking a look. Os voy a hablar, brevemente, de algunos de los libros que he leído a lo largo de mis 22 años y que he disfrutado especialmente. No es que sean o no obras maestras (algunos puede que lo sean considerados, otros no). Es sólo que significaron algo para mí en su momento, y quiero compartirlo con vosotros. 1-Beat the Reaper – Burlando a la Parca (Josh
Bazell, 2009)
This book was a present from my uncle. It stars
a doctor who previously was a hitman for the Mafia.. I won’t give much of the
plot away, but is pretty basic. This former mob has his past chasing after him.
It’s not quite original, but it is the way the story is driven, mixing with
flasbacks that show us the main character when he was a teen and started into
the hitman bussiness
There were two things I loved about this book.
The first one was that it didn’t take itself too seriously, giving, as a
conclusion, a hilarious ride with Peter “Bearclaw” Brown., the main character.
Really funny, really absurd. Enjoyable 100%.

The other thing was that, by it the time it
came out, I had recently started Medicine School (I was in the beginning of my
second year), and since then, I had experienced the pressure of having
relatives working as Doctors: “You have to do this” “don’t forget to study
that” “take a look at this 91834761938421928 page-book and then sum it up for
me” “bla bla bla pheochromocytome bla bla bla”. So when my mother told me “I
had a book for you. Your uncle gave it to me” I was already thinking “Great,
another thick-as-a-stone-book”. However, I was gladly surprised by this book
that helped vanish all that pressure. Thanks Uncle. As a side note, the books rights were bought by
Leonardo Dicaprio’s Production company, and there is supposed to be a movie in
the works, with him attached to star…however, I haven’t heard anything else about
it… Plus, the author is from San Francisco...damm I love that city... Este libro fue un regalo de mi tío. Tiene como protagonista a un doctor que, previamente, fue asesino para la Mafia. No quiero revelar muchos datos de la trama, pero es bastante básica. Este matón se ve perseguido por su pasado. No es muy original, pero es la forma en que la historia es llevada, intercalando flahsbacks que nos enseñan cómo era el protagonista cuando era adolescente y empezó en el negocio del asesinato. Hubo dos cosas que me gustaron de este libro. La primera fue que no se tomaba muy en serio a sí mismo, dando, como resultado, un viaje desternillando con Peter "Zarpa de Oso" Brown, el protagonista. Realmente divertido, realmente absurdo. Disfrutable 100% La otra cosa fue que, para cuando salió el libro yo había empezado recientemente la carrera de medicina (estaba al comienzo del segundo curso), y desde entonces, había sentido la presión de tener familiares doctores: "Tienes que hacer esto" "No te olvides de estudiarte eso" "Échale un vistazo a este libro de 91834761938421928 páginas y resúmemelo" "bla bla bla feocromocitoma bla bla bla". Así que cuando mi madre me dijo "tengo un libro para tí que me ha dado tu tío" yo ya estaba pensando "Genial, otro libro grueso cual piedra". Sin embargo, fui gratamente sorprendido por este libro, que ayudó a desvanecer esta presión. Gracias tío.
Como nota al margen, los derechos del libro fueron comprados por la compañia productora de Leonardo Dicaprio, así que se supone que va a haber una película, con él supuestamente como actor principal...aunque no he oído nada al respecto.
Además, el autor es de San Francisco...me encanta esa ciudad...
2-The Hobbit (J. R. R. Tolkien, 1937)
I first heard of Tolkien and his stories when I
was 8 years old, in a summer camp. This stories were told to us as bed stories
and I loved them but I didn’t even know where did they come from. Imagine my
surprise when, years later, I go to the cinema to see this new movie, “The Lord
of the Rings”, and found this stories reflected on the screen.
I bought the trilogy of the ring right after
the films came out, ten years ago, but for different reasons, I couldn’t read
them until now (I just finished the second book, one week ago). But I wanted
to do it in order of “chronology”, and since the movie of The Hobbit is coming
out now, I asked a friend in September to lend it to me.
I loved the book. It reminded me a lot of those
bedstories. The inocence, the naiveness, the imagination and the happiness of
being 8 years old again. It was like finding a long-time-lost-me, waiting to be
found. I must confess I’m really hyped for the movie, but even though it will
probably be a success, I don’t think it will reach me as the book did.
I want to see this movie...RIGHT NOW!
Oí las historias de Tolkien cuando tenía 8 años, en un campamento de verano. Estas historias nos eran contadas como "cuentos para dormir" y me encantaban, pero no tenía ni idea de dónde venían. Imaginaos mi sorpresa cuando, años después, voy al cine a ver esta nueva película, "El Señor de los Anillos" y me encuentro con estas historias reflejadas en la pantalla.
Me compré la trilogía del anillo justo después de las películas, hace diez años, aunque por diferentes razones no pude leerme los libros hasta ahora (acabo de terminar el segundo, hace una semana). Pero quisé hacerlo en orden "cronológico", y puesto que la película El Hobbit va a ser estrenada ahora, le pregunté a un amigo en Septiembre que me dejara la novela.
Me encantó el libro. Me recordó a esas historias. La inocencia, la ingenuidad, la imaginación y la alegría de volver a tener 8 años. Era como encontrar a un yo-perdido-hace-tiempo, esperándo a ser encontrado. Debo confesar, que estoy realmente impaciente por la película, pero aunque probablemente sea un éxito, no creo que me llegue tanto como el libro

Negrete, 2006)
Javier Negrete is a Spanish autor. I don’t know
if this novel has ever be translated into English nor other languages, but the
main title would be something like “Masters of Olympus”.

By 2006 I had already had contact with the
amazingly-great God of War game, but any later approach to the Greek mythology
seemed impossible and boring. I even tried to read Homero!
This author used what he best knows ( nevertheless, he is a
Greek Mythology teacher, if I’m not wrong) and through different myths, he
adapted them and formed this story, and this book. I really hope this book is
ever adapt into a movie, because I think it will work perfectly if done
correctly. The story got me hooked until the last page, last line, last word. I
even had to read it twice! Is the kind of book I tend to recommend to people,
so take note. I’ve read other books by this author, some of
those were really good as well (specially his saga, about a world called
“Tramorea”), but this is by far my favourite Javier Negrete es un autor español. No sé si esta novela ha sido alguna vez traducida al inglés o a otras lenguas. (pero el título sería algo como "Masters of Olympus" Para 2006 yo ya había tenido contacto con el genialmente genial God of War, pero cualquier intento posterior de acercarme a la mitología griega parecía imposible y aburrido. ¡Incluso intenté leer a Homero! Este autor utilizó lo que él mejor conocer (sin ir más lejos, es profesor de historia griega, si no me equivoco) y a través de diferentes mitos, los adaptó y formó esta historia, y este libro. Realmente espero que este libro sea alguna vez adaptado en una película, porque creo que funcionaría perfectamente si lo hicieran correctamente. La historia me enganchó hasta la última hoja, última línea, última palabra. ¡Incluso tuve que leerlo dos veces! Es el típico libro que tiendo a recomendar a la gente, así que tomad nota. He leído otros libros de este autor, algunos de los cuales eran también muy buenos (especialmente la saga que ocurre en el mundo de "Tramoréa"), pero este es de lejos mi favorito
4-Eragon (Christopher Paolini, 2002)
Great Book. Lamest movie ever
I think I read this book back when I was 13-14
years old or something like that. I loved dragons and fantasy tales by the day
so it is not surprise that this book quickly became one of my favorites (or
favourites, you can write them both ways depending on where you are, USA or UK)
books ever. I read the next two installments (I still have the fourth one left, I will read it someday) just to know how the story cotinues and, eventually, ends.
However, it was definetly the first book and that story that kept me dreaming
for months that pushed me, even more, into reading. It was such a shame the
movie was so lame…I felt really disappointed. Anyway, watching the side of the
book on my bookshelf always puts a smile in my face. Creo que leí este libro cuando tenía 13-14años o algo así. Me gustaban los dragones e historias de fantasia por aquel entonces, así que no es sorprendente que este libro se convirtiera rápidamente en uno de mis favoritos. Leí los dos siguientes libros (aún me queda el cuarto aún, algún día de estos lo leeré) para saber como continuaba la historia y, eventualmente, terminaba. De cualquier manera, fue sin duda el primer libro y su historia lo que me dejó soñando por meses y me introdujo aún más en la lectura. Fue una pena que la película fuera tan mala...Me sentí decepcionado. Aún así, ver el dorso del libro en mi estantería aún me coloca una sonrisa en la cara
5-Ender’s Game - El Juego de Ender (Orson Scott Card, 1985)
This book is really considered a masterpiece by
some people, and with a movie in the works, it will probably become more
popular among the current generations.
I had heard about this book way years before I
finally got it. My cousins, older than me, talked about it many times, but
I didn’t really pay attention nor I was interested. Then, years later, I’m with
my girlfriend in a village, going for a walk, and we decide to enter a
bookshop, just for the shake of doing so, just to watch the books that were
there to be sold (I love doing so). And there ir was, Ender’s Game, waiting for
me to buy it. It was like a sign. I bought it, I was quite excited “I’ve heard
a lot about this book” I told my girlfriend “ Really? What is it about?”, “I
have no idea, but I’ve heard a lot about it…”.
Yes, logic, whatever.
I started the book quite inmediatly and was
quickly hooked by the complexity of its main character: a 5 year old boy,
Ender. I felt really connected to this character, he felt very real, very human…
I suffered along the book when he was suffering, and was amazed by the ending
and the “bad guys”. Really really really “recommendable”. Try it out! I did
also read the second part, Speaker for the Dead, which was also great and
lovely. The third one, however, disappointed me. Anyway, even nowadays, Ender’s
Game (and its sequel) is in the top of favourite books ever.

Este libro está realmente considerado como una obra maestrapor algunas personas y, con una película en camino, probablemente se haga más popular entre las nuevas generaciones. Había oído hablar de este libro durante años antes de que finalmente me hiciese con él. Mis primos, más mayores que yo, no dejaban de hablar de él, pero yo no prestaba atención ni estaba realmente interesado. Entonces, años después, paseando con mi novia por un pueblo decidimos entrar a una librería, porque sí, sólo para ver los libros que estaban a la venta (me encanta hacerlo). Y ahí estaba, El Juego de Ender, esperándome para que lo comprara. Fue como una señal. Lo compré. Estaba muy emocionado "He oído hablar un montón de este libro" le dije a mi novia "¿Sí? ¿De qué va?" "No tengo ni idea, pero he oído hablar mucho de él..." Sí, lógica, lo que sea. Empecé el libro inmediatamente y enseguida me enganchó por la complejidad de su protagonista, un niño de 5 años, Ender. Me sentí muy conectado a él, porque parecía muy real, muy humano... Sufrí a lo largo del libro cuando él sufría y quedé encantado con el final y con los "malos". Muy muy muy muy recomendable. ¡Inténtalo! Leí también la segunda parte, La Voz de los Muertos, que fue también genial. La tercera parte, sin embargo, me decepcionó. De cualquier manera, aún hoy en día, El Juego de Ender (y su secuela) está en el top de mis libros favoritos
